Parish Projects & Community Health

The historic CSI Mission Hospital and Community Health Programme serving 13 wards across Mallappuzhassery Panchayat.

CSI Mission Hospital

Healing the Broken & Serving the Poor with Christ's Compassion

CSI Mission Hospital, Punnackadu has a good reputation as an eye Hospital. Thousands of poor patients have benefited by the free services of the Hospital for the last 25 years. Thousands of cataract patients were operated here free of cost.

Due to financial constraints, we were forced to close down the Hospital for a short period. Considering the demand of the poor people from remote areas, we have reopened the Hospital giving emphasis on Community Health. Good health and well-being require a clean and harmonious environment where physical, psychological, social, and aesthetic factors are all given their due importance.

Our Ministry & Vision

A Paradigm Shift in Pastoral Healing & Preventive Healthcare

The Community Health Programme offers a new paradigm shift in our healing ministry. We are working to enhance the quality of life of all people we serve by promoting their health and well-being. We are working collaboratively to build capacity within the communities and ensure equal access to appropriate services and resources.

Preaching and Healing are the pastoral ministry of the Church. CSI Church, Punnackadu is utilizing the present opportunity to proclaim the Gospel of Healing Ministry to the poor people in this area. There are so many high-tech hospitals in Pathanamthitta District, but most of them are not giving emphasis to community health or preventive medicine. Some of the diseases can be cured or prevented without treatment if people get proper health advice. The number of patients having cancer, cardiac, and diabetic problems is increasing every year.

πŸ“ The service of the community health project is available across 13 wards of Mallappuzhassery Panchayat (approx. 5,000 houses). We utilize the services of Doctors from nearby hospitals, and serious cases requiring expert treatment are admitted to partnered hospitals with which we have established tie-ups.
